  • The box did say, however (which I found out in hindsight) that you should stop taking it and talk to a doctor if you experience nervousness, dizziness or sleeplessness
  • I think it's meant for serious short-term effects, and if you have to take it for more than two or three days, you're probably going to have to resort to something a little stronger
  • If you have some congestion due to a cold that you know will pass soon, then this might be a good product (assuming you dont have the same allergic reaction to it- at least I think it was an allergic reaction- that I did), but if you have long-term problems due to allergies, then I don't think this is a good solution

I hate to admit it, but I’ve taken a lot of medications over the course of the last year, for a variety of problems that have been popping up like weeds in my body. Some of the most recurring problems I have are congestion due to allergies, but then that drains into the chest and I end up with a nasty chest cold and cough as a result, thanks to that nice bacterial infection that festers in the chest. This is especially bad at night, when I’m laying down and my sinus drain down my throat and into my lungs. I’ve started obsessively clearing my throat at night, to try to keep it from happening while I’m asleep, but since my husband is now, understandably, rather irritated with this new habit of mine, I’ve been

looking for another alternative that will act to treat the congestion but also act as a preventative measure to keep me from getting a chest cold as a result of the allergies.

I’ve tried a lot of over-the-counter remedies, both medicinal and natural, and I’ve found it hard to come across anything that really works as well as it claims to. Perhaps I’m just one of the few people who are not as easily affected by medication, or perhaps the medications really just don’t work all that well. I don’t really know. We all have different reactions to medications, I suppose. One of the drugs I tried was Sudafed Non-Drowsy nasal decongestant. Since my allergies are worse at night and in the morning, I need some relief that wont make me sleepy, especially when I ...

      • have to head off to work shortly after taking my morning medications. Anything that says Non-drowsy, I’m willing to work with. I don’t mind the drowsy stuff at night, but it’s otherwise just not practical.

I have to admit that the first time I took the medication, I really did feel relief about an hour later, but it still, oddly enough, made me a little woozy. Not tired, exactly, but still a little “out of it”. The box didn’t say anything about “do not operate machinery or drive while taking this medication” so I didn’t even think it would cause this kind of reaction. The box did say, however (which I found out in hindsight) that you should stop taking it and talk to a doctor if you experience nervousness, dizziness or sleeplessness. I suppose

my woozy feeling could’ve been “dizziness” in a way, but I’m still not sure. I was just so happy, at the time, to find some relief, that I kept taking it. However, after about three days of it, it just stopped working. I think it’s meant for serious short-term effects, and if you have to take it for more than two or three days, you’re probably going to have to resort to something a little stronger.

If you have some congestion due to a cold that you know will pass soon, then this might be a good product (assuming you dont have the same allergic reaction to it- at least I think it was an allergic reaction- that I did), but if you have long-term problems due to allergies, then I don’t think this is a good solution.
