This book is all about romance and believing that no matter what you have been through in your life, there can be a happy ever after for you if you will allow yourself to find and accept it.

The main male character named Sterling McCallum is your typical brooding character. He had a horrible childhood that has clouded and hardened his heart towards just about everyone he meets especially females.

He speaks his mind and lets you know exactly how he feels. He also is used to doing everything on his own and doesn’t accept help from others very well.

The other main character named Jessica Larson is the exact opposite of Sterling. She wears her heart on her sleeve and wants to help everyone she meets. However, she is guarding her heart from falling in love with any ...

      • man. She has a secret about herself that makes her think no man would want to marry her.

Sterling is a cop and Jessica is a social worker, and they are brought together again due to an abandoned baby case they are both working on. The sparks fly between them inspite of them both trying very hard to deny their feelings for each other.

This book makes good light reading.

The only thing I didn’t like is that you don’t really learn too much about Sterling’s past. There were a couple of references about something bad that had happened to him that made him move to Whitehorn, but you never find out what it was. Also, towards the end of the book there is a murder thrown in which I thought was kind of out of left field.
