Beast Wars - The Trigger, Part 1 is a two part episode that continues the mysterious alien story arc that was first started in the episode, “Chain of Command”. In this episode, a strange floating island is discovered and on it, beauty as well as danger.

Amidst the green grass, blue lakes, flourishing flowers and occasional butterflies, there are dangerous traps that await as

well as a structure that stands tall quite far inland.

Both the Maximals and Predicons investigate, although not together of course.

Megatron wants what secrets the island holds for himself, as does Blackarachnia even though she is portrays herself as being loyal to Megatron.

The Maximals simply want to learn as well as prevent the Predicons from harnessing whatever power might be there.

      In ...

      • the first part of the story, Blackarachnia and Scorpinok as well as Tigertron and newcomer Airazor race to investigate the island.

As both teams move across the island, traps, battles and even treachery occurs as Blackarachnia makes it clear that she intends on seizing the secrets of the floating island for herself and nobody else.

Much of part one serves as the set-up for

the action in part two, although I really do enjoy the feeling of wonder and mystery that is conveyed in the first part.

Plus, there is some nice character bonding that occurs between Tigertron and Airazor that will continue to be developed in future episodes.

This episode offers a good start to a two part story and it is definitely one of season one’s most unique offerings.
