Beast Wars - A Better Mousetrap is an episode that primarily focuses on Rattrap, although the episode also provides newcomers Blackarachnia and Tigertron with some material that allows their characters to be fleshed out a bit more. This episode is also a treat in the respect that much like the previous episode, the viewer is treated to seeing areas that he or she has not seen up to this point.

      In the

last episode, the viewer had the opportunity to see more of the Predicon base, and in this episode, the viewer gets to see more of the Maximal base.

This is a fun episode to watch because Rattrap spends a good part of it navigating and evading the Maximal base’s intruder detection system that was accidentally set off.

The detection system is designed to neutralize any unauthorized visitors.

The rest of the Maximals ...

      • are locked out, and with the base’s shields up, they have no choice but to wait and hope that Rattrap can get to the engine room and deactivate the security system.

The other storyline focuses on Blackarachnia and her first mission as a Predicon.

She is to lead an assault on the Maximals and take the Maximal base.

Her first mission does not go well however thanks to Tigertron, but even still,

both characters manage to shine in this episode and their personalities will be further fleshed out as the season progresses.

This episode is more fun than it is intense, although there is a good amount of action to be enjoyed between Rattrap’s battle with the defensive system and Blackarachnia’s efforts to succeed at her first mission.

Although nothing shocking or intensely important transpires in this episode, it is nonetheless a unique and entertaining one.
