  • You can buy this product for less than three dollars, and it makes a delicious meal
  • You will have to add some meat or seafood to it to get the best flavour, but this packet offers an intense, spicy flavor that our family absolutely loves
  • We have tried the mix with shrimp before, but the shrimp does not have a very strong taste, and we definitely prefer it with the ham, it just complements the flavor better

You can buy this product for less than three dollars, and it makes a delicious meal! You will have to add some meat or seafood to it to get the best flavour, but this packet offers an intense, spicy flavor that our family absolutely loves!

Before we purchased our first box of Zatarain’s Jambalaya mix a few years ago, we had never tasted Jambalaya, we are glad we decided to give it a chance!

It is a bit spicy for our son, and he always insists on a big glass of water when we make it, but he loves it as much as my husband and I do. I would not give it to our toddler due to the fact that it is spicy.

We usually make the Jambalaya mix with ham, but you can use sausage, chicken or shrimp.

We have tried the mix with shrimp before,

      • but the shrimp does not have a very strong taste, and we definitely prefer it with the ham, it just complements the flavor better.

Zatarain’s says you can get six servings per package, and that seems about right.

We always have a little left over for lunch the next day, which my husband often throws into a wrap with some cheese.

There are 130 calories per serving, but that is without the added meat,

so that is not a true value of the calorie intake you will have.

There are 500mg of sodium per serving, 29g of carbs, and the main ingredient is enriched long grain parboiled rice, with dehydrated vegetables coming next.

It may not be the healthiest meal, but it is delicious and takes less than half an hour to cook, so it’s great for busy families.

And if you’re worried about the sodium, try the reduced sodium package of Zatarain’s Jambalaya mix.
