  • I still really don't understand why GERD produces this lump feeling in the throat, but as I did more research, I found that this is a very common symptom of GERD
  • It cost me about $27.00 for a box that contained 42 pills, but if it worked I the cost didn't matter
  • The best thing about taking the Prilosec is that not only did it relieve the burning sensation in my throat from heartburn, it also relieve that feeling of a lump being in my throat sensation
  • My mom had an experience with Prilosec also which causes her to be a frequent customer
  • I highly recommend Prilosec OTC to anyone suffering from GERD or heartburn because it works so well, however, as always, I recommend that you speak with your doctor or health care providing before taking Prilosec OTC or any other medication because it may not be the right choice for you

Sometimes I get heartburn but not too bad. Actually the really bad bout of heartburn I had was fifteen years ago when I was pregnant. In my third trimester of pregnancy, I got really bad heartburn, but since then it never really affects me that it’s so severe that I feel the need to take a medication for it. One day however, I got a really bad episode of heartburn and what seemed like reflux. It wasn’t so much the heartburn that bothered me, it was a feeling like there was a lump in my throat.

It seemed like every time I bent down, I felt like there was something in my throat. The lump in the throat feeling was there when I was upright, but bending over, like to tie my shoes made this sensation so bad that it felt like I couldn’t catch my breath. The doctor told me this was from GERD which is gastroesophageal reflux disease which is why I was having the heartburn. I still really don’t

understand why GERD produces this lump feeling in the throat, but as I did more research, I found that this is a very common symptom of GERD.

In addition to this lump feeling in my throat, my throat was actually burning from the heartburn and I felt like I needed something to take for it. I went to Walgreens and purchased a box of Prilosec Acid Reducer. The Prilosec wasn’t cheap. It cost me about $27 for a box that contained 42 pills, but if it worked I the cost didn’t matter.

Usually with acid reducing medication, they don’t work right away like antiacids do. Sometimes I just take Tums or another antiacid that gives me quick relief, but the heartburn comes back soon after. It’s true that the Prilosec takes a few days to work for me, but when it does start to work, the relief is lasting. The best thing about taking the Prilosec is that not only did it relieve the burning sensation in my throat from heartburn,

      • it also relieve that feeling of a lump being in my throat sensation.

My mom had an experience with Prilosec also which causes her to be a frequent customer. A couple years ago, she actually ended up in the emergency room because she was having what she thought was chest pain. After ruling out that the source of her discomfort was not cardiac in nature, they gave her some Prilosec in the emergency room, because they said that she was having spasms in her esophagus and that she had lots of acid and reflux that could be the source of her pain. Soon after she took the Prilosec, she started to feel better.

As time went by, she said all her pain was gone. We were all so happy, that she felt better and that this medication helped her so quickly and effectively. Ever since then, my mother takes Prilosec and luckily has not had another episode of the esophageal spasms or bad heartburn. She too, would take either Tums, Rolaids,

Mylanta, Maalox or Gaviscon, but nothing worked for her as effectively and as long lasting as the Prilosec does.

At one time Prilosec was only available by prescription, but now it is available over the counter. Even the name of the medication states that it is an over the counter medication with the OTC (over the counter) initials after the name. Prilosec OTC always worked very well for me to relieve my acid and heartburn symptoms. there was never a time that I took this medication that it didn’t work for me.

I highly recommend Prilosec OTC to anyone suffering from GERD or heartburn because it works so well, however, as always, I recommend that you speak with your doctor or health care providing before taking Prilosec OTC or any other medication because it may not be the right choice for you. Also make sure you get a diagnosis that is compatible with the use of Prilosec OTC before taking it. Never diagnosis yourself and start taking medications without consulting your doctor or health care provider first.
