      We had to use this Bus station in Kuala Lumpur when we planned to go Penang. We started from Chennai by Malaysian Airlines and reached KL International Airport at about 0730 hrs. As per the prior information we had, we looked for the Star Shuttle Bus Service at the Airport to reach the Pudu Raya Station, which is used for inter city transfer by buses. The Star Shuttle Bus service was quite good.

      He charged us just 10 ringetts for the bus ride from the Airport. As we reached the bus station and alighted from the Bus, touts started following us pestering us for the bus tickets. We were directed towards first floor where the ticket counters were available.


      were earlier advised to book the ticket only by Transnational which is a Government Company and quite reliable. But unfortunately, no tickets were available for the day in these buses. We had to look for other alternatives.

      Another Counter offered a 10. 30 AM bus belonging to Konsortium Bas Express. We had no alternative, but to book these tickets at a cost of 36 ringetts each.

      We were told to reach Buss Stop No 18, which is in the Basement. When we reached there by about 10. 15 AM, there was already one bus belonging to Konsortium standing in that particular bay.

      When we enquired from the bus conductor whether the bus was going to Penang we were rudely replied “No”.

      • We were waiting for our bus, but there was no sign. Another bus came at about 10.

        45 AM. But it was meant for some other station. We went on waiting along with other passengers, but there was no hope.

        Finally, another bus belonging to some other Company came at about 11. 20 AM and after enquiry they told us that all those passengers holding 10. 30 AM tickets for Penang may board the bus.

        We observed that there are a number of passengers who were issued tickets for Penang for 11 AM and 11. 30 AM and so on. What we understood was that that there was a sort of slot sharing and the tickets were being indiscriminately issued for different timings and

        whichever bus belonging to whichever company is available, they were asking them to board.

        It is surprising that there was no proper place to wait and all the passengers were precariously huddled up in a small platform as there was busy movement of heavy vehicles in the area. The place was not only hot but also very noisy as all the air conditioner exhausts of the bus station are in the basement producing deafening noise. It is not clear as to why things cannot be streamlined and why proper information cannot be disseminated to the stranded passengers, especially when international passengers were also involved? What first impression of Malaysia does it give to the foreigners!!

        The experience with this Bus Station was very unsatisfactory.
