  • I did have my share of problems with the car, but since I had it for ten years, the few times I had problems with it, wasn't that bad, and I don't think that I had an excess of problems with the car
  • Finally I got new tires and resolved that problem
  • I don't think I ever had a freon leak or anything, it just didn't get cold at times
  • Actually, the only reason I got rid of it wasn't because it was falling apart or anything, like I said it had low miles on it, but cosmetically, it left alot to be desired so I decided to trade it in for what I drive now which is a Ford Freestyle
  • I don't think they make the Chevy Lumina anymore, but I've seen lots of used ones for sale

I had my Chevy Lumina for ten years. My Chevy Lumina was very dependable and it was a very economical car that was good on gas. I did have low mileage on the car because my job was close to home, so I didn’t travel too far with it. I also felt safe in the car which was very important to me, especially when I had my baby in the car seat. The Chevy Lumina handled extremely well and always seemed to hug the road and even in the winter with the snow and ice, it drove very stably. I did have my share of problems with the car, but since I had it for ten years, the few times I had problems with it, wasn’t that bad, and I don’t think that I had an excess of problems with the

car. One of the things that really sticks out in my mind about this car was that it always seemed like the front tired were low. Very frequently when I would leave for work in the morning, I would see might right passenger tire low. It seemed like I was always going to the gas station to fill up my tire with air. It started with just the right front passenger tire and then the right driver’s side tire started to get low on a regular basis. I spent so much time at the gas station filling up those tires. Finally I got new tires and resolved that problem. I also had some problems with the brakes and the alternator.

I never had a transmission problem with my Chevy Lumina, but if I recall, the water pump ...

      • needed replacing. Another thing that sticks in my mind about my Chevy Lumina is that in the summer on very hot days, the air conditioner never seemed to cool off the car. I would have to get freon added to it on more than one occasion to keep the air conditioner working. I don’t think I ever had a freon leak or anything, it just didn’t get cold at times. I did, however like how much room the interior of the car had. For a passenger car and not an SUV it was very roomy inside and could fit six passenger easily and comfortably. Another good thing about this car, that since it was a Chevrolet, any time something did go wrong with it, the repair parts were readily available. I didn’t even have to take it
back to the dealership to get it repaired, because any mechanic usually had the parts in stock and therefore I didn’t have to wait for them to order them. I had the four door and it made getting in and out of the car with my daughter and her car seat easy.

Actually, the only reason I got rid of it wasn’t because it was falling apart or anything, like I said it had low miles on it, but cosmetically, it left alot to be desired so I decided to trade it in for what I drive now which is a Ford Freestyle. I don’t think they make the Chevy Lumina anymore, but I’ve seen lots of used ones for sale. I liked my Chevy Lumina as it gave me ten years of dependable transportation and I always felt safe driving the car.

What engine computer is compatible with a 1996 Chevy Lumina with a 3100

    Jules Li says :

It uses a 3.1L OHV engine computer. So, as long as it’s a 3.1L it should be compatible.
