I love games, especially racing ones. Mario Kart DS has got to be the biggest, most hyped up game ever for the DS. Everything else just pales in comparison to all the speculation, skepticism, and whatever else comes of waiting for the best kart racing game ever to come to the DS. Years after the game was released, I actually got around to buying a DS, albeit a little late. And I figured, hey, why not try out that game everyone was talking about a couple years back?

Mario Kart DS is amazingly fun. It’s

complex, yet simple, in the way that everything is easy to play at first glance, but you could do so much better by looking beneath the surface. You could play forever and still learn something new to cut a few seconds off your time. I especially love the weapons. There are new and classic ones, and each prove to be incredibly useful once used right.

There are lots of different karts to choose from, and each are based upon a different aspect, whether it be speed, acceleration, drift or something else. Each one can be ...

      • played a little differently, so your driving style will need to be adjusted accordingly.

The graphics are awesome. Everything is beautifully clear and wonderfully done, and I sometimes drive through a racetrack just to take a look again at the skillfully crafted graphics.

Battle Mode has been redone. There is a great online mode for multiplayer, but single player works just as well when battling against computer operated karts. There are also missions that range from powerboosting to driving through tires.

My personal favorite is Time Trial. You can keep Ghost data which are like

recordings of your best laps. Beating your own time is something that I love spending hours on, and it gets a little obsessive sometimes. You can also unlock Staff Ghost data, which are like high records which you can try to beat. They can get really difficult.

This is the best kart game ever, hands down (well, I haven’t tried Mario Kart Wii yet) and to not play this is to miss out on something huge. It’s been a while since it was released now, but it still remains hugely popular and great to play.
