This laptop cost around $420 and was money well spent. Of course, being a commercial laptop, this machine came preloaded with all sorts of ACER bloatware and a version of Vista Home. Honestly, a 1.6GH Celeron M cannot handle basic Vista, regardless of the amount of RAM, it boggles my mind that they

use Vista as a default for weaker systems. Anyway, I improved the initial RAM by just making it an even gig (came with 512), this was just necessary for me.

After getting the RAM in (seriously an easy upgrade, you know, a screwdriver, pop the RAM in, screw back together, done!) I got ...

      • rid of Vista and installed XP Pro as the OS. This machine is subpar for gaming, but for web surfing, movie watching, and most general office work, this machine is tits. Dependable, sturdy, and with a nice low radiation monitor to keep your eyes from melting.

So if you make an ACER your purchase,

regardless of model, they do use good designs and components. When I dropped mine off of my desk (2-3 feet) and broke the AC pin (power plug), ACER had excellent customer service in honoring the warranty.

9/10 - The nine mainly because it didn’t come with a case. Most laptops these days have cases.

What is the energy consumption in KWh when operating? When on stand by? What is its energy start rating?

I’ve searched everywhere I can for information on the Acer TravelMate 2480, but that laptop is backdated and had its time before the internet really became popular, but I found some information on a similar laptop the Acer TravelMate 290E. The highest consumption rate is 50W - and that’s when it’s on charge. When it’s on standby, it’s about 5W. Most Acer TravelMate Laptops have a 5.0 Star rating. I know this isn’t the TravelMate 2480 but hopefully it gives you an idea of the consumption of the 2480.
