There’s added enjoyment to Alias Smith and Jones: The Root of It All and that comes from the main guest star of the episode. Judy Carne, perhaps best known from Laugh-In and being the first wife of Burt Reynolds, appears here as Leslie O’Hara. However, it’s Carne’s first series that makes her appearance in The Root of It All

so cool. Carne co-starred in Love on the Rooftop with Pete Duel, who plays Hannibal Heyes in Alias Smith and Jones.

In Love on a Rooftop, Duel and Carne were newlyweds. They had a wonderful chemistry which continued into this episode. They make you smile, watching them, and I have always enjoyed this little reunion. As O’Hara, Carne is ...

      • at the top of her game, and she leaves Heyes trying to figure out the puzzle. This equals quality entertainment.

Along for the ride and almost stealing the show are Meg Wyllie as Prudence Palmer and Tom Ewell as Deputy Treadwell. These two are under the radar, but they sure do go a long way. They play a key role,

even if it’s understated, in this show, which is full of twists and turns from beginning to the end.

Mills Watson, Logan Ramsey, Victoria Thompson, and Frank Amo are included in the supporting cast and aid in the success of this episode. Still, for me, the key is seeing Duel and Carne together again. That’s worth watching all on its own.
