Alias Smith and Jones: The Fifth Victim is one of my favorite episodes from this TV series. The premise is that Heyes and Curry, using their alter egos of Joshua Smith and Thaddeus Jones, end up in a poker game where, one by one, the players end up being killed. The ante is

upped when Heyes himself is shot and severely wounded.

One of my favorite scenes occurs when the sheriff asks Heyes where Curry was riding at the time he was shot. It’s all placement. Heyes thinks before answering, and when he does, his answer clears his partner. Naturally, it wasn’t the reality. It’s ...

      • just a cute scene that shows their belief in each other.

As always, Pete Duel and Ben Murphy as wonderful in their portrayal of the outlaws who are trying to go straight. These two have a nice rapport that is a mixture of humor and caring. They snark at each other, but in the

end, you know they always have the other one’s back. I love that kind of devotion.

Joseph Campanella, Ramon Bieri, and Sharon Acker head up the supporting cast, and they do so with conviction. These are all solid actors who know their craft. Campanella is especially wonderful here in this very nice outing for the show.
