I thought this movie was going to be at least slightly scary. But I was disappointed.

While I typically like Patricia Arquette in the roles that she plays, I felt that this role was “underwhelming” for her.

      The

subject matter is pretty deep, as her character Frankie shows the brutal signs of stigmata.

Arquette is good at playing tortured characters filled with angst.

But this script was just so watery that I couldn’t really get into it.

The opening credits don’t even do the subject matter justice.

      While they are ...

      • rolling, we see Frankie in various scenes of her life.

There is even a really quick, but quite explicit sexual scene.

The music during the credits also seems a bit too whimsical for the subject matter.

Nia Long’s character, “Donna” is also a bit unbelievable.

Supposedly they all work in this

beauty salon that caters to an edgy clientele.

But I just thought that it went a little over the top with trying to be edgy.

There are quite a few frightening scenes in the film, just not enough glue to make the entire movie really fit together as nicely as it could have.
