      My recent experiences with Shaw Communications in Calgary, Alberta have epitomized great customer service. I could not be more pleased with all three of the people I dealt with, for their knowledgeable, friendly and efficient help, not to mention the speed of my internet connection.

      I recently rented an apartment in Calgary and while the cable was hooked up, I was responsible for getting the internet arranged. I had dealt with Shaw years earlier when I lived in Calgary, so I called their customer service line for internet issues (403-750-6990), expecting a very long and complicated process of ineffective voice recognition options and a long


      wait to speak to a live person. I was shocked to hear just one, push-button set of options, and I chose the ‘new internet connections’ and was put through to a live person within one minute-imagine that, in these days. I spoke to a customer service representative, who set up my appointment for two days later-no week-long waits. I was quite shocked. Then she gave me a two-hour window-more shock. I am used to 4 or more hour time windows, which can wreck your entire day. To further my surprise, the technician arrived on time, and I had my high-speed internet within 15 minutes.

The representative I spoke to patiently had me do a few procedures, such as shutting down the computer completely and rebooting, and then trying a different outlet. The strange thing is that both the
        outlets I tried first would not allow the modem to go back online. It seemed to be an internet issue, but when I tried the computer in the third outlet, all the lights happily came back on. I felt bad about wasting the representative’s time, but he was upbeat and friendly, and made me feel at ease, not stupid at all. I thanked him profusely, and he didn’t hurry me off the phone.

        My experiences with Shaw Communications have been excellent so far: their customer service is excellent, their customer service phone system is user-friendly and fast, and their technicians are knowledgeable and friendly.
