The title Yun Hota To Kya Hota means in English What If? The director the movie is asking the question What If this would have happened or this would have happened. Well the movie released on 21st July, 2006. This film is the first directorial venture of Naseerunddin Shah. He is one of the best living actors in today India. In the movie he has presented four short stories which are united into one at the climax. The climax is based on the 9/11 incident.

The actor and actresses in this movie are also one of the best in India. The first story is the story of Tilottima and Hemant. The role of Tilottima is played by Konkona Sen Sharma and the role of Hemant is played by Jimmy Shergill. Tilottima and Hemant have met on the internet and fell in love with each other and got married on 21st of August 2001. But soon after marriage Hemant has to leave India and join his job in the

      USA.

They could not have a honeymoon either. The family members of Hemant aren’t very supportive to Tilottima. Hemants mother played by Carla don’t like her daughter in law. Hemants sister is herself very depressed because of her abusive husband. Tilottima finds it difficult to live in such a situation and in a hurry decides to leave for USA on a tourist visa to go to her husband.

The second story is about a stock broker named Salim played by Irrfan Khan and his much older lady love Namrata played by Suhasini Mulay. Salim is madly in love with Namrata whereas Namrata is just flirting and playing with Salim. Salim soon catches her cheating upon him and gets very sad. He somehow one day witnesses a murder of a police officer played by Boman Irani and gets very much panicked at it. His mother advices him to leave India and go to USA for the time being as he might be suspected as the murderer though he is ...

      • innocent.

Hence he decides to leave for USA. The third story is about a young brilliant in studies boy named Rahul played by the actor Ankur Khanna. He is not financially strong enough and inspite of getting admitted in a recognized USA university he doesn’t have enough funds to go to USA. More over his father passes away at that time. Luckily his rich friend played by Ayesha Takia helps him out and funds him to go to USA and study.

So he too decides to set out to USA. The fourth story is about a Gujarati foreign entertainment show organizer named Rajubhai and Tara played by Ratna Pathak Shah. Rajubhai was once in love with Tara though later on Tara got married to an abusive man who ill treats Tara all the time. Tara wants to send her young daughter to USA for a decent life there through Rajubhai and his entertainment group. She mortgages her house to arrange money for it.

        Rajubhai agrees and Taras daughter

played by Shahana Goswami is all set to go to USA. All the characters of the four stories are supposed to get into the flight leaving on 11th September 2001. But by the Grace of God they couldn’t board the ill fated flight and hence is saved. The director here raises the question What If they would have boarded the flight probably they wouldn’t have living any more in this world. All the four stories have been narrated very well in the film.

It is very interesting to watch all the four stories. Naseeruddin Shah has done a great job just as it was expected from him though the ending of the film is a little hasty. The filming of the incident of 9/11 is wonderful and thrilling. It is really filmed well. All the actors and actresses have done a great job.

I loved the movie and I think this film will turn out to be a hit. This movie is definitely worth one watch at cinema halls.
