  • It was my very first job and I thought it would be so cool to work there
  • The best thing I learned there was how to make cotton candy
  • I always felt faint inside that costume and I always thought it was so funny that the kids never noticed how when Chuck E went back inside the kitchen, he was only four foot ten and when he came out he was five foot ten
  • For some reason, I think their cheese pizza is the best tasting cheese pizza in the world
  • It's because there is so much real cheese in the pizza and it's just cheese heaven in my opinion

I have both very fond and very annoying memories of this particular restaurant growing up. When I was a kid and living in Arkansas, we had a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant not more than a half a mile from where I lived. I remember my grandmother would always take me and my cousin who was living with me at the time to Chuck E Cheese’s every Friday. We’d go and get our hair done first at Fantastic Sam’s and then we’d head over to the pizza place where we’d order a large cheese pizza and me and my cousin would get five dollars’ worth of tokens and play Mario Bro. in the arcade. Those were magical times, to say the least. I always loved going there because we’d have great pizza and also tons of fun winning the tickets from the skee ball machine and getting small prizes for our efforts. I will always look very fondly back on those times of youth and innocence and there will always be a part of me that wishes I could still go back to being nine years

old and playing Mario against my cousin’s Luigi.

I liked going to that place so much that when I turned sixteen, I went and applied for a job there. It was my very first job and I thought it would be so cool to work there. Well, there is that old saying of ‘be careful what you wish for because you just might get it’, and in my case, it was absolutely true. It was one thing being a kid and having your parents or grandparents take you there. All you had to do was just play on the games and then eat tons of pizza and soda. But when you work there you can see how annoying it is to help whining customers (and it wasn’t only the kids let me tell you), and have to clean the salad bar or pick up the trash or the tons and tons of things that need to be done before your shift is over. The best thing I learned there was how to make cotton candy. I became very good at it in fact and I always ...

      • loved how the sands of colored sugar were made into soft and sticky stands of candy. The worst thing about working there was everyone had to be Chuck E Cheese in the flesh (or rather in the fur suit) and it was just the most uncomfortable and hot suit you can imagine. I always felt faint inside that costume and I always thought it was so funny that the kids never noticed how when Chuck E went back inside the kitchen, he was only four foot ten and when he came out he was five foot ten. It just cracked me up!

In any case, it was a job and I’m glad I had the opportunity to do it. But it did somewhat kill my enthusiasm for the place for years to come. However, about a year ago, a friend of me and my fiance held his birthday party there. His girlfriend had arranged it and invited about fifty of his closest friends to come. Of course we went and really overall, we had a blast! I forgot how much I loved Skee Ball and how

good I was at it! I must have made over three hundred tickets by playing that game and after five of us pooled our tickets together we were able to go get a My Little Pony backpack for our friend who was very delighted over the children’s backpack even though he said he wanted the Spider-Man one instead. But I’m glad that I went because I had forgotten how fun that place could be. And also I missed their pizza. For some reason, I think their cheese pizza is the best tasting cheese pizza in the world. It’s better than Domino’s, Papa John’s and even my favorite pizza place in the world, Pizza Hut. It’s because there is so much real cheese in the pizza and it’s just cheese heaven in my opinion. If you haven’t been to a Chuck E. Cheese’s in awhile, go grab your kids, or your neighbor’s kids and take them there. It’s really such a great place for the young and the young at heart. And it’s even better now that I don’t have to BE Chuck E Cheese anymore!
