  • If you go in the early evening, which, in my opinion, is the best time to go, you’ll get to see the zookeepers feeding the animals
  • My son loved seeing the woman go into the lion enclosure and feed them while they laid there very close to the gate, so the he had an amazing view of it
  • I would not say that you could spend an entire day at this zoo, and it does not compare to the big zoos in terms of the number or variety of animals, but it is a very lovely place with a great atmosphere that the kids will definitely enjoy

This is a small zoo on a rural, farm setting in the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a very nice zoo, and although it is not home to animals you may often see in zoos, such as giraffes, elephants or kangaroos, it is still a great place to take the family for an enjoyable afternoon that will not break the bank. The kids will enjoy seeing the Llamas, which are not in cages so the little ones can touch and pet them, the bears, which you can feed at supper time, the monkeys, running around in their homes, the lions staring at

them while sunbathing, and the ducks wandering around.

They can also enjoy feeding the goats corn, or going on a pony ride. If you go in the early evening, which, in my opinion, is the best time to go, you’ll get to see the zookeepers feeding the animals.

My son loved seeing the woman go into the lion enclosure and feed them while they laid there very close to the gate, so the he had an amazing view of it. She stood there, feeding the lions, and taking questions from those of us watching safely outside of the fence.

During this feeding time you ...

      • have the option of getting close to either an older, bigger bear and giving her a snack, or a younger, smaller bear, whom you can also feed. You can also take a break on one of the picnic benches; buy some ice cream and let the kids run around for awhile.

They may even see a stray animal wandering around, a cat, a bird, a little dog. I would not say that you could spend an entire day at this zoo, and it does not compare to the big zoos in terms of the number or variety of animals, but it is a very lovely

place with a great atmosphere that the kids will definitely enjoy.

We were there over the past weekend, as we go once a summer, and the kids had a great time watching the monkeys swing around, feeding the animals, eating ice cream and running around in the fresh air. There is a small canteen, which prices you’d expect to see at a zoo.

The selection is not huge, but there are hot dogs and ice cream, among other things, to choose from. There is also a small gift shop, but this is definitely not somewhere I’d shop for souvenirs.

It is pricy and there is very little selection.
