That Girl: There Sure Are a Bunch of Cards in St. Louis Part 2 gets a bit spicier and more fun than Part 1 was the week before. Ann Marie (Marlo Thomas) and Don Hollinger (Ted Bessell) are in St. Louis for two reasons. Ann is appearing in a play there and Don’s family

is there, and now that they are officially engaged, it’s time for Ann to meet the rest of the family, including the infamous Aunt Belle.

Aunt Belle is played beautifully by the wonderful Ruth McDevitt. She always played such feisty ladies. I adored her. Here, she’s a demanding coot that always has the family ...

      • cowering, especially Ann who really wants to impress her.

One of the things I like about That Girl: There Sure Are a Bunch of Cards in St. Louis Part 2 is that we see a bit more realism from Ann. She actually makes a surprising decision that is somewhat selfish, and that’s so unusual for her

character. I had forgotten about this part of the show and it stood out dramatically. Natually, sweet Ann fixes things before it’s too late.

I like Part 2 a lot more than Part 1, even with the uninteresting cameo by baseball great, Stan Musial. The last bit with Don’s mom is priceless as well.
