It’s another two-part episode for this hit comedy series. That Girl: I Didn’t Have the Vegas Notion Part 1 has Ann Marie (Marlo Thomas) co-starring in a play in Las Vegas, so Don Hollinger (Ted Bessell) goes with her for the opening night. It starts out with an exciting look at Las Vegas. It’s actually a

very sentimental review now because many of the casinos featured no longer exist or go by new names.

Carl Reiner has a nice cameo early on, too. He’s such a funny man. A bit later, Pat Boone also appears. It’s fun to see him, but Reiner’s bit is the one that has some oomph to it.

      This show ...

      • features Jack Cassidy as the star of the show Ann is appearing in. He plays Marty Hines, a woman chaser who goes after Ann and sets Don up to be a gambler. Cassidy was a good actor, but I never really cottoned to him. He was often flamboyant, as is his character in this episode, and
        that rarely appeals to me.

Adding to the conflict is the promise Ann made to Don not to give him back the money that she’s holding for him. It’s a pretty predictable and often-done scenario, but it’s still funny.

It’s nice to have the alternate setting to the normal New York and it again gives Ann some progression in her career.
