  • As I always do at brew pubs, I asked her to recommend some for us, a pilsner for me and a darker ale for my husband, because whenever I read a beer menu, they all sound great and I have trouble choosing
  • My quesadilla came with delicious smoked salmon, pepper, capers and onions and my husband had a green salad with his burger

While we were driving through Nanaimo, BC, we decided to look for a pub to have a pub lunch. We asked an employee at a gas station and he gave us directions to Longwood Brew Pub, so we decided to give it a try. When we drove up, we saw that the pub is very big and is wooden, with a huge beer kettle on the left hand side of the main entrance where the brewery is. This makes the exterior of this building very cool. When we walked into the entrance, there is a hostess station, and we had the choice to eat in the dining room on

that level, or go downstairs to the pub, so we chose the put. The interior of the building is very beautiful, all wooden with stone accents. The pub is very nice, with a huge stone fireplace, all wood, nice art on the wall, a beautiful bar and a pool table. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable, and very ‘west coast.’

Our server was prompt and very friendly. When she gave us the menus, she told us that the specialties of the pub are local food, wine and beer, and that the brewery also sells off-sales if we liked a certain beer a lot. As I always do at brew pubs, I ...

      • asked her to recommend some for us, a pilsner for me and a darker ale for my husband, because whenever I read a beer menu, they all sound great and I have trouble choosing. She recommended the Czech pilsner for me and the Longwood ale for my husband, and they were both refreshing and very good. We looked over the food menu and there is a nice assortment of pastas, salads, burgers and sandwiches, and the prices are reasonable, with entrées between $18-26, and burgers and sandwiches between $10-15. The selection is not extensive, but everything sounded good. I ordered the smoked salmon quesadilla, and my husband ordered the
        lamb burger.

Our food arrived quickly, and the portions are very good. My quesadilla came with delicious smoked salmon, pepper, capers and onions and my husband had a green salad with his burger. Both meals were delicious. Even the lamb was tender and tasty. I had never had a smoked salmon quesadilla and I will have it again for sure. The lunch was great, and the beer was excellent. We didn’t have time to shop at the off-sales store on premises, but if we ever are in the area, we will come back. Longwood Brew Pub is a great pub, with a wonderful atmosphere, great food at reasonable prices and excellent service.
