My family and I had some fun time to visit Singapore at 2007. We went through Batam by ferry boat to Harbor front. It took around 1.5 hours to cross from Batam (Harbor Bay) to Singapore (Harbor Front). From Batam we can already see Singapore’s tall buildings. It was a short 2 days trip in summer when there was a Singapore Great Sale event. At that time we just want to see the view of Singapore, not for a big amount of shopping.

It took 2 hours from Harbour bay batam to reached Harbour front at Singapore. At the immigration entrance, we were asked by the officer there and we told them that we will just have 2 days in Singapore for vacation. At the harbor front there was a shopping mall area instead of restaurants and travel agents. There were approximately 6 floors this mall had, with many shops at each floor. We bought “Teh Tarik”, a traditional tea in Malay / Singapore mixed with milk. It tasted very delicious, maybe because we were so thirsty at that time. At this station we called one of our colleagues who has been a permanent resident in Singapore. He had an

apartment in Pasiris area, an apartment area close to the Changi Singapore International Airport. After we satisfied enough looking around at the Harbor Front mal, we went to Pasiris by MRT. If we slightly looked at the infrastructure and the train model, Singapore has a modern MRT system, just like we ahd in Europe. The MRT station was nicely maintained, and there was a clear signed for the arrival and departure of the train. We can also buy 1 day ticket, or pre-paid ticket, so we re-charged when the credit was already empty.

It was a quite long journey to Pasiris, approximately about 1 hour in the train. Pasairis located at the east area, so we passed many stations in the central area to reach Pasiris, just like a city / country tour. My colleague said it only took less than three hour to cross from one edge of the main Island to the other edge. Singapore was a small country but we looked a very well placed city. There was always a park in several hundred yard, providing some fresh air for the pedestrians and for the city itself. They had also modern transportation system just like and ...

      • Europe. One other thing is they had very strict rules not to throw and garbage except in the garbage bin. There will be a lot of fine if we disobey the rules. That was the main reason why they have a very clean city / country.

After 1 hour in the train, finally we reached Pasiris railway station. It was at noon at that time, so we decided to have some lunch first before we met our colleague. There were many restaurants in outside Pasiris railway station, include Mcdonald restaurant where we had lunch at that time. It was a delicious meal we had, before our colleague pick us up at the restaurant. We used a bus from the station to our colleague’s apartment. The apartment located in one big apartement area, consisted of many apartment buildings. We found the first class apartment until cheap apartment in this area. It seemed that Singapore government intentionally created this apartment area, to arrange as far as possible from the crowded.

In the afternoon we went to the Orchard Road, the most famous Singapore Shopping area in the world. It was full of visitor at that time, because it there was a

Singapore Great Sale event which offered big discount in many mall. But even they already gave big discount, it was still expensive for us, so we just bought some dolls, perfume and dress for our child. It was in Takashimaya, the largest shoppng mall in Singapore. In front of Takashimaya, there was a mall called lucky plaza, mainly sale alectronic product like mobile phone and audio video equipment. In this mall we can bargain the price, until it reached under normal price.

At the next day we went to the Santosa Island. This place was prepared by Singapore government at Singapore’s Disneyland. There were some construction works in some area not yet finished. We can take a kind of sky train from Singapore main Island to this Santosa Island. There was a big Merlion Statue in this island, which become a Singapore country symbol. There was a 4 dimension theatre in this Santosa Island so we feel the seats were move left and right, up front and backward, according to the movie we watched. It was so fantastic. We also went to the beach, where we can have sunbathing.

It was nice experience visiting Singapore, and we hope we can go there again someday.
