The Samsung G600 is an attractive cellphone which boasts a very impressive stack of specs. Take the 5 megapixel camera, the large lcd screen, the easy to use slide out keypad and the up to 4GB data storage (microSD) as an example. You also get bluetooth compatability, FM radio, media player and all the exra features you could possiby want from

a phone. Sure it doesn’t have all the features of a media tool like the iPhone (the G600 has no wifi, touchscreen or proper browser tools), but if you want a phone, not a mini computer, it has nearly everything.

The quality of the handset is evident as soon as you pull it out of the box. Beautiful finish, smooth sliding keypad, and super clear display screen. The handset is easy to use, ergonomically sound, and the speakers are clear. The data storage system is a doddle, and while some of the phone menus are a little odd, generaly it is easy to navigate through. The camera is aweome for a mobile phone and with good light will produce desktop quality photos. Battery ...

      life is commendable too.

The problems in actual fact are more glaring. The screen scratches easily, although this is a problem with most phones that aren’t flip flops. The attractive paint finish chips easily, and chips are noticeable as the brown surfce flecks away to reveal shiny silver. The predictive text is awful, and doesn’t auto add words or predict usage; it

is much worse than Motorola or Sony Ericson predictive. Adding contacts can get tricky from a text message and changing between language input modes fiddly.

All in all, a very good phone which handles day to day mobile tasks well, but it isn’t perfect. A stronger finish and ironing out some bugs in the predictive would make this phone a lot better.
