Due South: Dead Men Don’t Throw Rice was a somewhat strange episode that was still oddly fascinating. In the course of working on a case and trying to find out information on the crime and wrongdoers, Canadian Constable Benton Fraser, played by Paul Gross who is also the executive producer for this last season of the series, puts himself into a deep hypnosis, which he says he’s done before

      for some 36 hours.

Fake Ray takes his presumably dead friend to a funeral parlor and leaves him in a coffin. No one is supposed to know about the scheme except for a handful of people, including Lt. Welsh and a couple of federal agents. Naturally, it doesn’t go as planned and soon, everyone thinks that Fraser is dead. Though Fraser had tried to warn Diefenbaker, his wolf ...

      • dog, not to pay attention to anything he might hear, Dief was worried, too.

Barbara Eve Harris was very fun to watch as Agent Handler of the FBI. She had that tough edge that said she could hold her own against anyone.

The somewhat funny, almost insane bit focused on Francesca Vecchio, who has always had a thing for Fraser. In this show, though, she tells him that she’s getting

married. It’s while trying on her wedding gown that she hears about Fraser’s death. Ala Rhoda Morganstern, Francesca goes running through the streets of Chicago in the gown.

The best scene for me was at the resolution when Fraser suddenly pops up the coffin lid and Diefenbaker jumps up and gives him lots of kisses. That was wonderful. So, this was an okay show with some good moments in it.
