SeaWorld is by far the best attraction in San Diego. It has amazing shows and attractions and is great for toddlers up to retirees. If you have limited time and budget, I would suggest Sea World over the San Diego Zoo. Although SeaWorld is a bit more expensive, you get more for your money and can spend a whole day here.

SHOWS- SeaWorld has about five or six shows depending on the season. During summer and holidays, SeaWorld has two nightime shows not to be missed (Shamu Rocks and Dolphins Ignite). The shows are back to back so you can go to one and then run over to the other one. The Shamu show is at 9:30 but the seats fill up

fast so get there by 9:00 pm. I would not miss these so if you have been at Sea World head back to your hotel for dinner and a quick nap and come back to the park for the night shows. Added bonus is the fireworks display right after the Shamu Rocks show.

ATTRACTIONS- SeaWorld has a few rides. There is the Journey to Atlantis ride which is a combo water ride/rollercoaster. If the line is really long, I would skip this ride and spend your time on other things. Although it is fun, the ride is about 1 minute long so you wait in line for all this time and then it is over before you can even scream. Very ...

      • disappointing. The Raging Rapids ride is really fun but you will get very wet.

For Kids- Sesame Street Bay of Play is great for kids. They have three rides (think flying elmos) and an elaborate play area with ropes/nets/tunnels and lots of water features. If you are coming during the warm months, bring extra clothes (no swimsuits allowed) so kids can play in the water and then change.

Animals- Sea World is large and trying to fit all the shows and exhibits into one day is hard. If you are pressed for time, the animal exibits not to be missed are the Dolphins (spend the extra five bucks to buy fish and feed them, kids really love it), Stingrays (the

stingrays are huge and they come very close to the wall so you can touch them), the shark encounter (although this may be scary for small kids who are easily frightened because they play creepy music and the sharks swim above you), the manatees (amazing animals).

The food at Sea World is expensive and the choices aren’t that great so I would recommend eating a big brunch before and then eating outside the park after you are done or leaving the park for lunch and then coming back. I would suggest you stop at Pineapple Pete’s though (near the Sesame Street Bay of Play). They have the most amazing funnel cakes topped with ice cream and whip cream.

GO TO SEAWORLD! YOU WON’t BE DISAPPOINTED.
