Laramie: Queen of Diamonds is a marvelous first show for the second season of this western that I adore greatly. One of the things that make it special is the guest star, Julie London. Decades later, London co-starred with Laramie star Robert Fuller in Emergency! While he remembers this show vividly, she really never recalled

doing it, which isn’t uncommon for performers who have done so much in their long histories.

Actually, London plays opposite John Smith more than she does Fuller in this episode, but they still have a couple of scenes together.

The second season of this show does have a couple of major changes. Andy Sherman (Robert Crawford Jr.) has gone ...

      • off to school back East, and Jonesy (Hoagy Carmichael) has gone to look after him. I’m not sure really why they decided to release Crawford from the series, but there was a contractual dispute with Carmichael that dealt with music on the show. Regardless, both characters would be missed for the rest of the series, even
though Crawford did show up in a handful of shows this season.

So, this meant there was new opening and that the show focused a hundred percent on the two buddies, Jess and Slim. The opening scene is quite fun, with the two cowboys arguing over their chores.

Queen of Diamonds is absolutely wonderful in just about every way.
