In That Girl: Author, Author, Don Hollinger (Ted Bessell) attempts to write a comedy routine for his girlfriend, Ann Marie (Marlo Thomas) as she tries to make it onto the finals of Talent Showcase. Actually, while the overall show isn’t its best, there are some great moments in it, including a

neat segment where Don plays the piano and sings his goofy song parodies. The bits were funny, and there was an innocence to them.

I noticed in this episode that Thomas was wearing yet another of her trademark daisy pins. Her production company for the series was Daisy Productions, and she ...

      • had hundreds of different daisy pins made. In just about every episode, at some point, Ann Marie is seen wearing one of these pins.

Sid Gould guest stars as Ernie Bernie, a comedy writer. He has a bunch of one liners that vary in funniness. My favorite is when he

tells Ann and Don he’s going to be eating in India. Why? one might ask. The answer is because they might be getting a New Delhi (new deli). I thought it was funny, old school, but funny.

So, not the best of That Girl, but it’s still an entertaining thirty minutes.
