This new branch opened recently at new mall Clementi City Vibe,a few doors away from another famous Japanese branch Sakae Sushi.

I have tried the first branch at Far East Plaza many years ago and enjoyed the Ramen. Since then, many other Raman restaurants have sprouted around the island to give this restaurant some serious competition. This may be the reason why the restaurant added a sushi belt in this branch.

This new store touted $0.99 for all sushis. We went in and discovered that only the

white plates were $0.99 (down from original $2.50). The red plates were $4.50 and black $6.50. The menus were limited. As this is a halal restaurant, the ramen were limited and the usual varieties of pork char siew (roast pork) and pork belly ramen were missing.

We ordered upside bowls (add $2 extra) of teriyaki beef ramen, spicy lala (clam) ramen and chicken ramen. The texture of the ramen were wonderfully springy. The milky lala soup was tasty, a much better choice then the other two.

      • The garnishes were pethatic. My bowl of teriyaki ramen had only some sliver of beef slices , half a hard boil egg, a leaf of lettuce, some bean sprouts and seaweed.

We also tried some 14 white plates of sushi. They were small and consisted of cheap cooked seafood and vegetable (mayo egg, spicy mushroom) although there were also two-piece raw quid sushi and salmon sushi white plates. Still, nothing to rave about.

We order refillable ice green tea. At $1.80 each, they were so diluted that there

was no hint of green tea. I made a complaint and the waiter changed mine, but it came warm instead of ice cold.

We only entered this restaurant because of the enticement of the $0.99 sushi, which the kids wanted. With the standard of sushi and food, and being situated next to a famous sushi chain and another Japanese restuarant famous for its cheap price in the same vicinity, I would be surprise if this restaurant can remain here, unless it does a serious revamp on its standard of food.
