Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure is an adventure game platform of Nintendo DS. Henry Hatsworth needs to look for the Golden suit and acquire it to prevent it from falling into enemies’ hands. He goes into the puzzling realm to look for the treasure. For the adventure part of the game, for each level in each realm Henry Hatsworth will fight enemies and collect coins, which he will later use to buy items that will help him fight better.

This adventure scene is played out on the upper screen of the DS console. While going about each stage and fighting the enemies, the bottom screen of the Nintendo DS has a puzzle game like Bejeweled. The player needs to sort 3 same blocks to delete it from the puzzle.

The player can only move the blocks right or left. When the blocks

get deleted, Henry acquires energy to transform into a heavily armored robot in a moment called “Tea Time”. In his robot outfit, he’s invincible and can take on a lot of enemies.

But his Tea Time will last as long as Henry Hatsworth has energy in his Power meter (the right meter on the bottom screen). Once the meter has drained, he returns back to being an adventurer. Another twist in this game is every time the player defeats an enemy, the enemy turns into blocks and goes to the puzzle game.

The blocks continue to go up and if the player isn’t able to eliminate the enemy blocks, it will go up and go into the upper screen and haunt Henry in his adventure. There’s a lot of going on in this game. In the start, it’s really challenging to juggle the ...

      • puzzle screen at the bottom and the adventure screen on top.

Every time there’s an enemy block in the puzzle I need to eliminate that early in order to prevent it from becoming an enemy again on the adventure game. The puzzle also gives out different items for Henry to help in his adventure. To name a few, a heart item is to restore life and a thunder item is to instantly kill all enemy.

Look out for a hat item in the adventure to gain extra life. Some enemies are hard to kill and harder to eliminate in the puzzle and one needs to make sure they don’t go up to the upper screen and become an enemy again. At the final stage of each realm there’s a boss and every time the boss is defeated, Henry gains a piece of the

golden suit and makes him fight better.

The game uses both the keypads and the stylus. The keypad is for the adventure game and the stylus for the puzzle game. The animation is kids-friendly and very funny but not eye-catching.

It is interesting to play this game at first but it can get monotonous because the adventure is the same throughout the entire game. Sometimes I wish I don’t have to play the puzzle game so I can progress quicker into the adventure game. I finish this game in a week and in some levels I was slower to finish because the enemies are harder to eliminate and the game is more difficult to pass.

In conclusion, for those people who likes playing Mario Brothers or any adventure game and Bejeweled at the same time, Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure fulfills this objective.
