Every time I stay at this hotel, I think of it as “the hotel inspired by Liberace”. This high-rise building is located in a seedier part of downtown Toronto, but the red-carpet entrance, with porters and a concierge at the front, the marble floors

and granite counters at the check-in desk, even the rooftop pool and spa, all have the trappings of a much more upscale neighbourhood.

Popular with visiting European and Canadian celebrities who are filming in Toronto.

Rooms are interestingly laid out, with a living ...

      • room of sorts when you enter, a kitchenette, and the bed around the corner, with a bathroom in the middle.

Comfortable furniture (including the beds), quiet guests and rooms, good service.

Hot buffet breakfast is included in the price of the room.

The prices are very good value for a hotel with these amenities and this level of service, quite a bit lower than the boutique and business class hotels in other parts of downtown Toronto.

The price probably reflects the neighbourhood and the 3-block walk to the subway.
