  • No Blue Skies is another episode with a bit of a musical theme, and I love those
  • He's a fairly good singer, so I enjoyed the sounds a great deal
  • Unfortunately, Sands' character of Joey Rand doesn't just sing for a living
  • I think those are very well done, and the singing just lulls and relaxes

Hawaii Five-O: No Blue Skies is another episode with a bit of a musical theme, and I love those. This time it’s Tommy Sands singing in the lounge of a Hawaii nightclub. He’s a fairly good singer, so I enjoyed the sounds a great deal.

      Unfortunately, Sands’ character of

Joey Rand doesn’t just sing for a living. He’s also a cat burglar, an occupation necessitated by his massive debts owed to a syndicate.

Sands actually gets to sing quite a bit in this show, and it’s all very enjoyable. There’s some really good directorial bits here, with cutaways ...

      • to other events that are going on during his performance. I think those are very well done, and the singing just lulls and relaxes.

It’s this last 20 minutes or so of the show that I really love. It’s poignant and tender and shows the stupidity of it all.

Between the singing, the intercuts, and the actual outcome, it’s all very dramatic and heartwrenching.

Kudos to Bob Random and Sandra Smith who turn in fine supporting performances in No Blue Skies as well. Smith plays the girlfriend and Random ends up the willing victim in a sense.

        It’s a good episode.
