I am reviewing the movie, The Green Man, starring John Nettles and Daniel Casey as Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby and Detective Sergeant Gavin Troy. This movie was made in 2003, was produced by Brian-True-May, and was based off the novel written by author Caroline Graham. In this movie, The Green Man, Troy is moving up in the world, having passed his inspector’s exam.

He only has one last case to work with Barnaby on before he

is transferred elsewhere, but the two partners aren’t destined to work on one final case together. When a cave suddenly collapses, the skeletons of eight people are found, and Barnaby dives into the case.

Troy meanwhile follows up on a tip that some teenagers are harassing a hermit named Tom in the area. Troy finds himself on a wild goose chase as he tries to track down the man to help him.

      When he does ...

      • find him, it unravels a mystery deeper than imagined, and happens to bring light on DCI Barnaby’s case. I love this movie.

It is my favorite Tom Barnaby movie out there. I detest the ones where the players take up the whole movie and not much is seen of Barnaby and Troy.

I love this one because the entire movie focuses 90% of the time on Barnaby and Troy. It is also a treat to

see Troy working on a case by himself.

It was very interesting to see the pair working separately. This episode also allowed the viewer to get a better picture of Troy’s character, finally! They were only seven years too late.

But anyway, I really loved the mystery to this movie, and I loved to see Troy’s character develop more. I highly recommend this movie to everyone, but especially those loving Tom Barnaby and Gavin Troy.
