There have been many fast food restaurants that specialize in sandwiches, and even some traditional burger and fries type places are offering sandwiches, in an effort to offer healthier food choices. At times when I have been forced to eat while on the run, I have enjoyed some of these lunches because they are easier on the stomach, as well as having much less fat and calories. I even enjoy a good pub sandwich, and I have also made some great sandwiches of my own, with numerous ingredients. However, by far my favourite sandwiches I have ever tasted are available at my local grocery store; Safeway’s deli counters now have a wonderful selection of both hot and cold sandwiches, for a great

price, and full of nutritious and fresh ingredients.

Safeway’s sandwich counter has such a selection of menu choices, and I have begun to work my way through about half of the delicious items. The choice of breads include artisan, which is a whole grain loaf, Panini, whole wheat, sub roll, cheese and olive, and French. They are, by the way, baked fresh in the bakery section. The choices of sandwich are numerous and include a rustic Italian, Monte Cristo, Santa Fe, traditional cold cuts, chicken pesto, sundried turkey, and many others. The toppings are also plentiful, and while each of the exotic sandwiches has its own recipe, you can chose the sauces and the various toppings, including fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olives, peppers,

      • shredded carrots, pickles, and many more. There are also sauces and spreads available, not just the traditional mayonnaise and mustard; my very favourite is the pesto mayonnaise, which is delicious, and they will add it to any of the sandwiches, not just the ones that have it on their ingredients list.

There is also an aioli sauce which is wonderful.

I do not have a favourite yet, and I am enjoying trying all of the delicious sandwiches at the Safeway deli. If a customer cannot find a sandwich they want from the menu, the sandwich makers will make a custom sandwich with whatever ingredients the customer desires. I have noticed that by noon, many Safeway locations have long lineups at the deli counter,

and I imagine there are a lot of people that are just tired of the usual lunch options and have discovered, like me, that the sandwiches here are delicious and filling. As well, these sandwiches are a very affordable meal; there are two sizes of sandwich, and most of them are around $5 for a medium and $7 for a large, depending on the ingredients. There is also a meal deal, where you can add a drink and a bag of chips for an extra $1. I have never been disappointed with my sandwiches from Safeway, and I have even begun to crave them at times. Sandwiches from the Safeway deli counter are a delicious and inexpensive lunch option, or for any time of day.

I got a couple of sandwiches at Safeway a couple days ago.
I have never tasted anything so disgusting in my entire life.
A starving dog wouldn’t eat one of these things.
Soggy bread, old, soggy lettuce, stale meat. Yuuuuk

I tried two different kinds of sandwiches a couple weeks ago an I fell in love with them. I’d personally say that Safeway sandwiches are very good.
