  • Both are visible in this opening show from season two, and there's one really funny scene where it elevates this show way beyond a drama and into comedy big time

The second season of Due South begins with an episode entitled North. The name is appropriate since the main characters of Benton Fraser and Ray Vecchio are headed north to Canada where they are going to rebuild Fraser’s father’s cabin that burned down at the end of season two. The two want to regroup and recover from all that had happened at the end of season one. Both men

had been shot, as had Diefenbacker, the wolf.

Naturally, the trip doesn’t go as planned, and the two men are hijacked and find themselves in the middle of nowhere when the plane crashes. Adding to the problems, Fraser is blinded by the crash.

This show seems to suffer from overkill in the physical calamities department. The blinding is just a bit much after the trauma from the last few shows of season ...

      • one. I do like the change of scenery, however.

On the fun side, Fraser continues to have conversations with his dead father, played by Gordon Pinsent. He’s a hoot. I’ve grown to really like him. At the end of last season, Vecchio also began to have conversations with his dead father. Both are visible in this opening show from season two, and there’s one really funny scene where it

elevates this show way beyond a drama and into comedy big time.

There’s another hysterical moment when the two men are singing. Apparently, neither have good voices, or at least not in this moment. I was really laughing during this segment. It was great.

This was a wonderful start to a new season. I’m glad they’re back to Canada, too. The scenery was so incredibly beautiful. I just loved it.
