The FBI Story is a really wonderful movie starring James Stewart as a man who decides to become an FBI agent. He has high ideals and he wants to act on them. These are the early days of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and through Stewart’s character, we watch

it grow, from a time when agents didn’t even carry guns to a well-oiled machine.

Stewart’s character is Chip Hardesty, and his road with the FBI is complicated just a tad by the beautiful Lucy, who he finally convinces to marry him, with promises that he’d resign and do something more safe.

      The ...

      • presentation of the history of the FBI is presented through the vehicle of Hardesty speaking to young agents during an orientation. He starts from the beginning and goes to the present, intertwining the action with his personal story, which isn’t always sunshine.

The FBI Story is a well written story with

some great acting by Stewart and Vera Miles as Lucy. Murray Hamilton is great, too. This is probably his best role.

I highly recommend The FBI Story. It may be somewhat rah-rah, FBI-wise, but it’s still a wonderful film that can be considered somewaht educational as well as being entertaining.
