  • Overall, I can't say that I like the Nighthawks episode because I just didn't have a need to see an episode at this point that was 75% replays of what had happened
  • I don't like the Daisy and Mason characters enough to want to see a rehash of their dreadful past on the show, either

Dead Like Me: Nighthawks is a flashback show, and that confuses me. It’s really too early for a flashback show, but maybe Showtime was trying to get people up to speed on what was happening in the story. Usually, a clip show like this one is an economical way of getting another episode in for the season. Most half

season orders are for 13 shows, and there were 14 total for season one, including Nighthawks.

An assortment of clips from the prior episodes are intermixed in this hour, and that’s pretty much all there is, except for one new plot where George (Ellen Muth) learns that there will be a death on the driveway of her family’s home. Rube (Mandy Patinkin) ...

      • is assigned to do the reaping tasks. He tries to keep George away, but naturally, she’s drawn to her home as she fears for her family.

This storyline gives George and Rube some time together. They have a bit of a father/daughter relationship which comes out a lot in this episode.

Overall, I can’t say that I like the Nighthawks episode because

I just didn’t have a need to see an episode at this point that was 75% replays of what had happened. I don’t like the Daisy and Mason characters enough to want to see a rehash of their dreadful past on the show, either. So, while the one really new plot bit was pretty good, the rest was a bit of a yawn.
