  • The Samsung SPH-M500 is a Sprint clamshell flip phone that offers a wide variety of features, but doesn't offer the best quality of those features
  • It has a lot of basic features for a new user to get used to, it's sturdy and strong, so it can survive the inevitable drops every new phone user goes through (mine fell off the Batman roller coaster in Six Flags and still survived) and it's carried by Sprint, which is a great carrier in my opinion
  • If you only want something basic and simple, or if you don't understand how much phones can do, I'd recommend trying out the Samsung SPH-M500

The Samsung SPH-M500 is a Sprint clamshell flip phone that offers a wide variety of features, but doesn’t offer the best quality of those features. First of all let me say this isn’t the most sleek or stylish phone in the world, it’s pretty plain and compact. If you’re really into phones, let me save you some time, you won’t be interested in this one since it’s mainly for first time phone owners or those who want something simple. While the phone isn’t horrible, it is very basic compared to other phones on the market today.

The best thing about the phone would probably have to be its carrier: Sprint. Sprint is one of the leading carriers in the nation, with an up and coming 4G network that’s on the

cutting edge. The reception for Sprint is really good, at least everywhere I’ve traveled, and I’d call them one of if not the best carrier in the nation. I’ve personally have had zero problems with Sprint, and their plans and prices are very reasonable.

This phone is a good one for learning on, since it offers a lot of features that aren’t too “techy”, but that you’ll want to understand for future phones. These include bluetooth, speakerphone, a SIM card, a video recorder and a music store, among other things. The capabilities of the phone are pretty neat, since it can do so much. The call quality is pretty crisp and clear too, it’s easy to understand the person you’re talking to. The buttons are big, the phone is thin ...

      • and light, and the battery lasts a long time for me. The M500 is a simple phone that allows new phone owners to get used to the basic features of many phones available today.

There are, however, quite a few cons to this phone. First of all, its video and music quality are horrible, so look elsewhere if you are interested in a music phone. Also, the camera is a pretty bad quality, it’s extremely difficult to take pictures of anything so that you can actually tell what the thing is, and it’s impossible to take pictures in the dark, since the camera has no flash. Although the buttons are pretty big, they’re also really slick, so be aware of that. The whole phone feels pretty cheap, and it’s easy

to scratch it up. There’s other downsides to the phone if you just play around with it for a while, you’ll find things about different features you just don’t like, but that’s true with pretty much any phone.

I’d call the SPH-M500 training wheels for future phones. It has a lot of basic features for a new user to get used to, it’s sturdy and strong, so it can survive the inevitable drops every new phone user goes through (mine fell off the Batman roller coaster in Six Flags and still survived) and it’s carried by Sprint, which is a great carrier in my opinion. If you only want something basic and simple, or if you don’t understand how much phones can do, I’d recommend trying out the Samsung SPH-M500.
