I think this is probably my favorite Lenny Kravitz album right now. I have always been a Lenny fan.

But lately, after hearing some of his later material, I have gone back to the “5″ album

      and have really been reminiscing.

I particularly miss Lenny’s edgy urban style, as heard in the song “If You Can’t Say No”.

When this album came out in 1998, I think I had that song on repeat in the car wherever I went.

      I’ve worn ...

      • the song out.

Another song that had to grow on me (it took years) was “Black Velveteen”.

IT’s actually a pretty racy video.

And I think it was the video that did the trick.

I liked the edginess and the way it

        was filmed.

This was one of Lenny’s best pieces of work.

I wish that he would either explore some other aspects of rock, or at least add a little of that edginess back into his music.

I feel like he’s watering his music down as he gets older.
