The O2 Peninsula Square London SE10 0DX
  • No problem, walk down the 'street' in the O2 to the Vue Cinema
  • Pink put on a real show, with scenery changes to match her costume changes, numerous dancers, and trapeze and other stunts, amazing
  • Food is the latter is pretty good, as you would expect from a chain, and the service is usually very attentive and helpful, I love eating in here for something simple and chilled
  • If you haven't been to the 02 yet, definitely check out their website and see what is on, I'm sure something will grab your interest, and if nothing else it's a good place to go wander on a lazy weekend

Formerly the disaster that was The Millennium Dome, those days are long behind the reborn O2. This is now a great venue.

Because it’s entirely enclosed you could happily spend a day here and your entertainment will not be spoiled by the predictably bad British weather. Fancy a film? No problem, walk down the ’street’ in the O2 to the Vue Cinema. Hungry? No problem, except you’ll be very spoilt for choice. Kids need to be entertained? No problem, there’s always something new - in winter there was the dry ski slope, or ice skating rink, replaced by fairground rides and amusements. Adults need to be entertained? No problem, there’s the exhibition hall

(Bodyworlds) or nightclubs, or of course if you’ve got tickets - the music gigs.

I went to see Snow Patrol, and then Pink at the O2. Both were amazing in very different ways. Pink put on a real show, with scenery changes to match her costume changes, numerous dancers, and trapeze and other stunts, amazing. Because of the huge height of the Arena, you will get a fair view of the stage regardless of where your seats are. Note because of same height, this is NOT the venue for you if you suffer vertigo. I don’t, but I was still slightly nervous on the top tier, the angle of the steps and seating is ...

      • pretty sheer!

I’ve eaten at a fair few restaurants at the O2. If it’s a busy gig night, then everywhere will be busy - you’d be advised to check everything out before-hand and book a table. That said you can still find plenty of places last minute at the Chinese buffet (waterfront) and a few chains like Zizzi. Food is the latter is pretty good, as you would expect from a chain, and the service is usually very attentive and helpful, I love eating in here for something simple and chilled.

Transport is getting better. On a busy gig night they sometimes have to use crowd control for getting into and out of North Greenwich

tube station. There are loads of buses so that’s usually a better option than tube which will get packed, and there’s even the river boat which many people forget but it’s a great way to get off the Peninsula and back into more central London on Southbank near Waterloo. The taxi rank is very good although again it will be busy on a gig night so don’t rely on that, try alternative methods instead.

If you haven’t been to the 02 yet, definitely check out their website and see what is on, I’m sure something will grab your interest, and if nothing else it’s a good place to go wander on a lazy weekend.
