I skipped this movie altogether in theatres. I thought it was going to be one of those trite, rapper- shoot-em-up films that I’ve seen time and time again.

      I was right.

      But this time, the

storyline is so engaging that the little violence there is in the film, is aptly placed.

Terence Howard again provides a stellar performance as DJay.

He is really the most lovable pimp I’ve seen on the big screen.

He’s not flashy–and struggles financially more often than not.

      As the movie ...

      • goes on, I saw that he had created a little family for himself with his “employees”.

And once DJay really gets into his music, more of his soft side comes out.

What else I liked about this film, was the fact that it displayed the real side of attempting to do pre-production music

        in a home studio.

It’s at once difficult and easy.

It’s difficult because there are so many little things to think about.

But it’s also easy once you get going and figure out a system that works for you.

This movie is incredibly entertaining, and does NOT have a neat and tidy ending.
