I’m a sucker for ice cream and for this reason, I believe, Dairy Queen was my all time favourite restaurant, particularly in those long and hot summer time months. It was the most used and loved treat store during my summer holidays and visits to my grandfather’s house which was in the city where the nearest Dairy Queen became all the more magical because of this. A trip to Dairy Queen meant either a wonderful Blizzard, a chocolate or, but more likely, butterscotch dipped cone, or a Dilly bar became routine but never lost its power to thrill. I also enjoyed quite a few of their non dairy sweet treats. Mr. Misty’s were affordable and delicious as were Kisses. You could also buy a tub of Custard or a box of Dilly bars or Kisses

      to enjoy at home.

Needless to say, I was a chubby child.

Grown up now, Dairy Queen would still be my favourite restaurant except for one thing: the price. I don’t find that Dairy Queen has the best prices in the world. In the long run, it is far more cheaper to buy a tub of ice cream at the local grocery store. Now it is even more convenient to do so since there are numerable flavours that were not available when I was young. Some of these include, in fact, some well known candy treats, such as, Coffee Crips, Rolo, Turtles etc… These are far more easier on the wallet than a single Blizzard and can be enjoyed several times and with several people. Still, I find myself hungering for a Blizzard and I have never ...

      • seen a Butterscotch dipped cone available in a supermarket so I return to Dairy Queen every now and then.

Most recently, I have developed a fondness for Dairy Queen’s hot food like hamburgers, cheeseburgers etc… Their hamburgers were never my favourite while growing up, but now I like the taste of them far better. One hot food offering I have always enjoyed from them are their hot dogs. I have never found a better deal or tasting hot dog, save for Harveys, and it is rare to find a fast food place that offers them. I also have always liked the options when it comes to the hot dogs. You can get a super large one and even a really long one. These are fun to try and I spent many Sundays enjoying them as a

        treat.

Their poutine, on the other hand, has been called ‘toxic’ by both my sister and I for years now.

If you are a Blizzard lover like me, I suggest that you join the Blizzard club online. You will get notices from time to time about the latest Blizzard flavours that are being created and you also get a ‘buy one get one free’ printable coupon you can use at your local Dairy Queen. You also will get one of these coupons on your Birthday as a special treat. I joined last year and have not regretted it. I will warn you, though, to only click on the coupon once and print it or else it will be lost. And take it from me, it is a very sad fate to lose out on a free Blizzard!
