I am reviewing the murder mystery film, Dead Man’s Eleven, starring John Nettles and Daniel Casey as Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby and Detective Sergeant Gavin Troy. This movie was made in 1999, was produced by Brian True May, and was based off of the novels of author Caroline Graham. In this movie, Tom and his wife are debating on moving to a new house.

Tom isn’t that thrilled about the idea, but ever the good husband, he humors his wife and allows her

to show him to a new home she has in mind. While they’re in the area, a cricket match is going on on the property.

It isn’t long before a murder takes place, seeming to follow poor Mr. Barnaby everywhere he goes.

The murder takes place in the form of a young woman, who is beaten to death with a cricket stick. She is the wife of the captain of a cricket ball team, who is disliked by everyone, including his own son.

      ...

      • Barnaby knows something strange is afoot when he hears of another murder that took place over a year ago near the land. With Troy’s help, Barnaby is determined to solve the murders, thinking that they are somehow connected to each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Having Troy playing cricket was just hilarious.

He’s such a funny, lovable character. I used to dislike him, but he really grew on me with all his silly sayings and actions.

        This movie was a little

dry in areas, but it got much better along the way. All the scenes with Barnaby and Troy were good.

Those two had really good chemistry, which really made the show work. I only wish they both would have been given more screen time.

I think the actors did a marvelous job, as always, and the on scene locations are always beautiful. The murder mystery itself is very good, and will leave you guessing up until the very in.

I recommend this movie to all murder mystery fans.
