This movie was one that I saw as part of an all female outing with the husbands left at home. The people who saw it were all women in their 30s, to give the review context.

It stars Vince Vaughan and Jennifer Aniston as the lead characters, and as the title suggests, follows their relationship through it’s break up, when both partners decise that they want to remain in the apartment that they have bought together.

in particular excels- however the movie as a whole still lacks depth.

One of the major attractions of this movie is of course that it was shot whilst jennifer Aniston was going through her own break up.

It is also fun to check out her new man too! Whom I might add got a thumbs up from half the women in our group as more attractive than Brad, and thumbs down with snorts of derision from the other 50%.

The movie is being hailed ...

      • as Jennifer Anistons return to form, and whilst she does her job well, the movie as a whole doesn’t quite hit the spot.

There are funny moments, and amusing sequences (such as when Jennifer Aniston-post Brazilian walks naked through the apartment to try and win back her man!) There are also many nods of recognition and moments of truth about relationships-and yet whilst not being a bad movie, I feel that it never really achieves what it sets out to do.

        It is not

funny enough to be a really good comedy, the ending is not really right for it to be a straight down the line rom-com and the movie isn’t thought provoking enough to be anything more than those things.

However if you want simply a fun night out with a few girlfriends this might be just the ticket.

I am a tough critic when it comes to movies so perhaps others might find it more appealing.

Taken as a bit of fun, it might make a good night out.
