Wagon Train: Chuck Wooster, Wagonmaster was a bit of a mystery show, and it was somewhat intriguing. One by one, people began to disappear from the wagon train, including the scout, Flint McCullough, and the wagonmaster, Seth Adams. Eventually, it was up to the cook, Charlie Wooster, to try and maintain order with a frightened group of pioneer travelers. This is a role that

is foreign to Charlie’s character because he’s a cook and somewhat goofy, so to have him try to guide the train was a source of amusement.

Of course, it wasn’t some paranormal experience going on, but was part of a big scheme. The big fun of this, though, is seeing if you can figure out what the story is; that is, what is happening and why.

      • It’s not really that easy. Wagon Train: Chuck Wooster, Wagonmaster was very well written in that respect. I didn’t find it predictable in the least. It was a good mystery right up until the end when the resolution is revealed.

Frank McGrath, who plays Charlie Wooster, was quite the character, on and off the set. He was a bit of a troublemaker, and I

don’t mean that in a negative way. Rather, he liked to set the stage to let others fight for him. He got his friends in a lot of hot water, which was part of their fun. That’s so opposite of Wooster, who is such a fun-loving sport, obsessed with his culinary skills. Overall, Wagon Train: Chuck Wooster, Wagonmaster is a good episode for the series.
