Another really wonderful Doris Day movie is The Pajama Game. She plays Babe, and she’s a dynamic dame in the role, that’s for sure. She works in a factory that makes pajamas. The factory hires a new manager, played by John Raitt. Now there’s a man with a powerful singing voice. He faces off with

      Day, and there are fireworks.

This movie has a ton of great songs that I just love. One is called Steam Heat. It has sizzle and pizzazz. It should because the production numbers in The Pajama Game were choreographed by the great Bob Fosse. Carol Haney is the lead singer on that one. Then there’s the ...

      • haunting Hernando’s Hideaway that is mysterious and alluring. The most well known is probably the enthralling Hey There, which both Raitt and Day perform at different times. I like that, actually, that both of them put their take on this A-class song.

I pretty much love everything about this movie. It’s a good love story with some drama

and some humor to go along with the sing-along songs. The big rally towards the end is fun. That’s when they tell us why a few cents means a whole lot of money. I love that number.

The Pajama Game is a really fun movie. It’s not great, but it’s a pleasant movie-going experience that will bring on some smiles.
