For a long time before actually watching The Harvey Girls, I really wasn’t sure what to expect, but then once I finally sat down and told myself to watch, I got it! The Harvey Girls tells of a group of women who moved west to, well, be glorified waitresses back in the

days of lawlessness and saloon brothels. They had a code they lived by, and it worked well. I guess you could say they brought some class to the brawling west.

Judy Garland stars, and she’s perfect for this role. There’s a lot of comedy here, and she handles it very well.

      • I think my favorite scene has to be when she confronts the movie’s primary villain with two guns, all because he stole the steaks from the Harvey House. She scares all the cowboys because they don’t know she might hit if she shoots. It’s a hoot, and it always makes
        me laugh.

The songs in The Harvey Girls are pretty darn good, too. The most well known is the rockin’ On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe, which is full of whim and imagination. It’s bound to have you tapping your feet.

This is a good movie and worthy of your time.
