I love Calamity Jane. As a bit time Doris Day fan, this movie has long been a fun time for me. Day is one of Hollywood’s best, able to do drama and comedy. She can be serious and full of angst or crazy and daffy, not to mention the beautiful girl next door. In Calamity Jane,

she plays the title role of the famed woman who could keep up with any man when it came to gun play, riding, and just about anything else you can think of. While the character did exist in history, for the most part, the movie Calamity is fictional. Not a whole lot happened the way it does in this ...

One of the things I love about Calamity Jane is that another huge favorite of mine, Robert Fuller, had one of his first extra roles in this film. When Calamity Jane goes to get a big star to sing in Deadwood, she arrives for the final song. After the song, flowers are brought out on stage, and Fuller

gets a nice big close up when he walks off the stage from handing the songtress her flowers.

Day sings one of her most well known songs here, too. “Secret Love” is so romantic, and I love how it swells at points. Day sings it with inspiration.

Calamity Jane is great entertainment. I tend to watch it quite a bit.
