This game was released around 6 years ago and it was instantly a big hit in the PC gaming arena. Everyone talks about it until today. The game is created by the famous Blizzard (the company behind Starcraft, Diablo and World of Warcraft) and continues the story from the game’s predecessor Warcraft II.

For real time strategy fans, this is a must get for you. The game is a fantasy-based real time strategy meant for the Windows and Mac OS based systems. The entire graphic engine of the game is being rendered in 3D but players can opt to play the game from the standard bird-eye view. It’s actually more comfortable to

      play a RTS that way.

In this Warcraft III, players get to play 4 different races namely the Orcs, Night Elves, Humans and Undead. Each of the race has its own unique units and also special heroes. By the way, a new element of game play has been introduced here which is the hero system. It is quite different from the previous Starcraft and Warcraft II games. It gives the feeling of playing a Diablo character within a real time strategy game. It’s quite refreshing but do bear in mind that a lot of micro-management is required here.

The single player mode is pretty long since you have to go through all ...

      • the 4 races in order to defeat the single player mode. There are also some nice touches in terms of story telling especially the part where Blizzard included their trademark Computer Graphic movie cut scenes. The cut scenes are so good that they can actually rival any CG-movie made by the guys in Hollywood.

However, things don’t just end there after the single player mode. The interesting part starts with the multiplayer mode where you pit your skills against players from different regions in the Battle.net. There is also a ranking system and also a statistic page which record all your previous battles. You can easily access this page using any internet

browser. This is quite a good offering made by the guys in Blizzard especially when all these services come free. It really shows how much Blizzard values its customers.

Overall, I definitely think this game is worth the RM 199 (or USD$ 55) which I’ve purchased it for. I get both the original and the expansion for the price of 1. And even after 6 years, I am still playing on the Battle.net server against people from Korea and Japan. There is also this custom map called DOTA which is very popular among RPG fans and it can be downloaded for free. This shows how much replay value this game has.

        Highly recommended.
