The main actress of the movie “Australia”, Nicole Kidman described it as “the Australian version of Gone with the Wind”. I like to think that “Australia” is a cross version between two modern movies - “Titanic” and “Peal Harbour” - because the movie concept seems to thread on the same lines.

Before its release, there were a lot of expectations in relation to this movie.

What makes “Australia” such a great blockbuster? First of all, it has two great actors, Kidman and Hugh Jackson. The latter impressed so much the movie audiences that end up presenting the Oscar ceremony.

      • not enough, one must also mention that this movie received 14 nominations amongst which one for an Oscar for best costumes.

The story of “Australia” is set before World War II. This movie is about Lady Sarah Ashley (Kidman) who travels from England to Australia to take a closer look at her newly inherited ranch. While in Australia, she meets Drover (Jackson) and between they

have a love and hate relationship!

Interesting to know is that filming for this movie took about nine months. Russell Crowe and Heath Ledger had to appear in this movie. Crowe dropped from this project for financial reasons while Ledger preferred to act in “The Dark Knight”. Kidman personally convinced Hugh Jackson to be part of this movie and as they say the rest is history!
