      Unlikely Angel is a holiday movie from 1996 which stars Dolly Parton as a rather selfish country music performer (aside from the selfish part, not a big stretch … again) who dies suddenly. Being egotistical, Ruby Diamond can’t enter Heaven without doing a good

      deed first, so it’s back to Earth she goes. This isn’t an easy task, though, as Ruby just doesn’t have a clue how to go about doing a good deed.

      Roddy McDowell plays Saint Peter, and he’s a hoot. It’s a role he could do while asleep, but he’s fun to watch anyway.

      Basically, Ruby has to get a family back on track. The dad just doesn’t have a good relationship with his kids. Of course, the somewhat human for the moment Ruby has to behave herself and ...

      In the end, Ruby succeeds. I doubt that’s a spoiler that would be a surprise to anyone. Unlikely Angel is a B-movie that is okay but nothing to write home about. It’s all pretty predictable and

      fairly routine. It’s not even that much of a holiday movie. Christmas is more of a setting than it is a real part of the movie; at least, that was my take on it. For me, this movie is mostly for Parton fans.
