  • There is a high quality restaurant in the hotel - a little pricey, but delicious, interesting combinations of flavours and an extensive wine collection so definitely worth a try

This Hotel is a great base for doing some walking in the Peaks - particularly Stanage Edge directly around Hathersage, or Mam Tor in Castleton. That was the reason we stayed - plus as a little treat, we usually stay at B&B’s but thought this hotel looked lovely.

      Don’t be

put off by the fact that it is directly on the main road, there is no traffic noise whatsoever (not that Hathersage is a busy town anyway).

There is some excellent secure parking which is another bonus of the location.

The rooms here were great, beautifully decorated and an excellent ...

      • size.

There was a sofa and chairs in our room with coffee table, and even newspapers and reading material.

The bathroom was equally large and immaculate.

The reception area, lounge and bar are very characterful.

There is a fantastically ornate clock, various arm chairs and loungers and even a little

nook of a library which is great.

There is a high quality restaurant in the hotel - a little pricey, but delicious, interesting combinations of flavours and an extensive wine collection so definitely worth a try.

The George is not a cheap option, but it is a good one for something of a special weekend.
